When to Consider Breast Reduction

Breast ReductionBreasts that are disproportionately large for one’s physique can be mentally and physically debilitating on an everyday basis for many women. For individuals experiencing this concern, our practice offers an effective solution in the form of breast reduction surgery. The goal of breast reduction surgery is to reduce the overall size of the breasts, making them more proportional to the rest of the body. Additionally, the breasts can be lifted to provide a more youthful appearance.

Common reasons why women may consider breast reduction surgery can include:

  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Headaches extending from the back of the neck to the forehead region
  • Deep bra strap indentations on the shoulders
  • Rashes beneath the breasts
  • Irritating fullness in the outer chest and armpit region

In addition, many women who have overly large breasts may seek breast reduction surgery for reasons such as an inability to participate in certain activities (e.g. exercise, particular sports, etc.), difficulty finding clothing that fits properly, and receiving unwanted attention due to the appearance of their breasts.

If you can relate to any of these concerns, or if you are experiencing any other issues associated with the size and shape of your breasts, you may be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery. To find out if this procedure would be right for your unique needs and goals, I strongly encourage you to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience in performing this breast enhancement operation.
